When sustainability matters

Engineering reliable warning and lighting solutions while protecting the planet

Why sustainability drives us

Extreme weather, rising emissions and finite resources make climate responsibility everyone’s business – especially for companies that keep critical fleets moving. When emergency and service vehicles respond, lives depend on fast, reliable equipment, yet every extra kilogram or watt also adds to the planet’s burden. At Standby Group we believe safety and sustainability must advance together. Our mission is to deliver high-performance warning and lighting solutions that protect first responders and road users while actively reducing environmental impact today and for future generations.

At Standby Group sustainability is not a new thing - it’s part of our core values.

Our Goals by 2030

Sustainability at Standby means action, not just words.
We face significant challenges, such as climate protection and resource conservation. Responsible business practices are no longer optional; they are essential. For us, it is clear: real change only happens when actions follow words. TThat is why we have incorporated our sustainability ambitions, which are embedded in our corporate values, into tangible goals across five key areas: climate, resources and circular economy, our employees, a sustainable supply chain, and our commitment as an ethical employer.

With this clear focus, we aim to drive meaningful progress and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Climate

  • Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 20%.

  • Significantly reduce Scope 3 emissions across the value chain.

  • Transition to 100% fossil-free electricity sources.

  • Integrate sustainability criteria into research and development to design future products with climate efficiency in mind.

  • Achieve net-zero emissions by no later than 2050.

Resources & Circular Economy

  • Integrate lifecycle and durability principles into all product development processes.

  • Increase the use of reused, recycled, or bio-based materials in products and packaging.

  • Avoid waste and keep resources in the loop.

  • Develop additional circular product solutions, including modular spare parts and take-back and refurbishment programs.

Our Employees

  • Implement our Group Code of Conduct as a binding framework for ethical and responsible behavior.

  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment.

  • Provide an average of 20 hours of sustainability and skills training per employee each year.

  • Achieve ISO 45001 certification for occupational health and safety.

  • Maintain zero tolerance for discrimination.

  • Promote balanced gender representation through fair and equal-opportunity talent development.

Sustainable Supply Chain

  • Implement a group-wide sustainability auditing process across the entire supply chain.

  • Ensure 100% commitment to the Standby Group Supplier Code of Conduct.

Ethical Business Conduct

  • Ensure that all employees have read, understood, and signed our Code of Conduct for Business Ethics.

  • Maintain 100% compliance with the Code of Conduct for Business Ethics for all new employees.

  • The Code is based on the principles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, the UN Global Compact, the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), and the Directive on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDDD).

Engineering that respects the planet

Smart materials
At Standby, sustainability begins with the substance of each component. We machine our housings from lightweight, fully recyclable aluminium, which offers exceptional corrosion resistance and maintains structural integrity over years of heavy use. Inside, we specify long-life circuit boards with robust soldering and conformal coatings that protect against vibration, moisture and temperature extremes. The result is a product that lasts longer in the field, requires fewer replacements and ultimately generates less waste. Every kilogram we save translates into lower fuel consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions for the vehicle that carries it.

Aerodynamic design
Form is just as important as function. Products such as our W3 lightbar series have been specially developed to achieve low drag. The slim design reduces turbulence and wind noise at high speeds. For fleet operators, this means measurable fuel savings and a smoother ride – benefits that add up over thousands of kilometres of operation. By eliminating unnecessary drag, we enable emergency and service vehicles to utilise their power for what matters most: the task at hand.

Product Highlights

The EMY lightbar combines cutting-edge aerodynamics with eco-conscious materials. Its sleek profile minimises wind resistance, helping fleets curb fuel consumption. Because the housing is moulded entirely from recycled plastic, the unit is also three kilograms lighter than the previous generation,

The W3 lightbar’s optional solar-PV module adds an extra layer of sustainability by cutting parasitic loads, extending battery life and boosting the operating efficiency of blue- and amber-light fleets.

Our equipment is engineered for longevity—built to perform reliably for decades. Our recent remanufacturing programme in Austria shows how we turn that promise into practice: each returned lightbar is fully dismantled, its aluminium housing cleaned, and its polycarbonate lenses replaced with new, crystal-clear covers. The system is then reassembled, tested and shipped back with a renewed full warranty, ready to deliver many more years of dependable service.

Commitment today – impact tomorrow

Sustainability at Standby is not a side project; it is the lens through which we design, build and support every product. From lightweight aluminium housings to solar-assisted lightbars and circular remanufacturing programmes, our innovations prove that safety technology can deliver top-tier performance while respecting planetary boundaries.

Yet progress never stands still. We will continue to refine materials, streamline manufacturing and expand reuse schemes across all markets so fleets can operate more efficiently, first-responders can rely on equipment that lasts, and future generations inherit a cleaner environment.
